Design & Build

The term Design and Build is often misunderstood and as such sometimes gains bad press. In the past, designers and contractors have not always approached projects from the same viewpoint. Projects can become the rope in a tug of war between the two parties. The only real loser in those circumstances is the client.

But bring together a skilled designer and an efficient contractor who work as a team to deliver a project and you have a highly effective vehicle. The fact is that a contractor often has more idea than many clients of the abilities of building designers. Stainforth Construction has knowledge and experience of numerous design professionals. We know who has the right mix of attitude and ability for a given job. Design and Build is a means to give you the client the benefit of that knowledge.

If you have a project where you have a clear brief, and where guaranteed costs and a single point of responsibility are attractive to you, ask us about Design and Build. If we don't think it appropriate for your scheme, we'll say so. But if we believe it is the right route for you, we'll put together a team and package for your consideration. The final decision is always yours, just as it should be.

Partnering

Partnering is in many ways a natural step forward from Design and Build. For too long mistrust was an ingredient in construction souring both relationships and schemes. The one-off nature of construction and the tendency to create new teams for each new project - teams which may run into hundreds of individuals - has been a handicap to the industry.

Partnering starts from a basis of trust and realism about the nature of construction. It accepts there is risk involved and attempts to divide that risk, along with the rewards of development, equitably among the entire project team. It looks for openness and honesty in working relationships with a commitment to finding solutions to problems and adding value wherever possible - for everyone involved.

Partnering accepts that for the full benefits of such a way of working to be realised, participants must be committed to long term relationships. Only then is it possible to learn from mistakes and even out the vagaries of individual projects over time.

Stainforth Construction is in for the long haul. We intend to be around for many years to come, developing and cementing working relationships and our reputation in the industry. The concept of Partnering is something we have practised in our own way from day one. Now it has a name and we are proud to endorse what it stands for.

Ultimately you will decide whether or not to approach us in relation to a project. Whilst this brochure can give you a brief insight of what we do and our approach to business, above all we rely on personal contact to make and cement working relationships. We are always ready to discuss a project, no matter how early in its development. We may be able to use our experience to steer the project in a beneficial direction.
